Hi There!

My name is Nicole Willoughby, and I am a Horticulturist. I work closely with plants; growing, nurturing, and studying them to ensure that they thrive in their environments. My goals are to support healthy, vibrant growth and to establish a welcoming atmosphere. I apply both science and creativity to everything, from designing plant layouts to experimenting with sustainable growing techniques. My unique role combines a passion for nature with hands-on skills, allowing me to make a meaningful impact on green spaces and the communities that enjoy them.

My credentials include completing the three-year certificate program in Horticulture at the Barnes Arboretum, receiving a professional certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from Michigan State University, and I am an ISA-Certified Arborist. I am currently studying to become a Certified Green Roof Professional through the Green Roofs for Healthy Cities program.

Before entering the field of Horticulture, I was an aspiring screenwriter. I received my Bachelor's from SUNY Oswego, double majoring in Broadcasting & Mass Communications and Creative Writing. I grew up flourishing in the gardens of my parents and grandparents and exploring various types of art styles. I have found my craft with plants. I now use my skills to bring greenery to my surroundings, enhancing both the environment and the well-being of the community.
